King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a substantive consultant in Emergency Medicine. We currently have a 12 consultant team that provides on site consultant cover from 8am to midnight seven days a week at the Princess Royal University Hospital site.

King’s College Hospital has two Emergency Departments, one located on the Denmark Hill site and one at the Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH). Both sites have vastly differing demographics and run as independent units. This post will be based at the Princess Royal University Hospital, (PRUH).

PRUH is situated within the hearts of Bromley and it is situated in the green leafy Kent and has excellent connections to London. For those with family this area has some excellent schools some of which are top rated grammar schools in the country.

To apply for a job as a Consultant, a wide experience in Emergency Medicine is essential and eligibility for entry to the specialist register for Emergency Medicine is required.

King’s College Hospital (PRUH) is a Trauma Unit and part of the SE London, Kent and Medway Trauma Network and is also one of the highest performing Hyper-Acute Stroke Units in the country. The trust is currently at working towards developing a world class frailty unit and the ED will be working closely together to ensure we support this project to cater to the needs of our aging population.

Successful candidates will have the opportunity to enjoy the variety of clinical practice that comes from working in a busy district general hospital settings whilst developing their own special interest both clinically and non-clinically. The driving focus of the department is patient safety and quality of care in addition to the further development of the strong training programmes and innovation in clinical care.

You will be responsible, along with the other consultants, for developing and maintaining the high standard of care we provide to our patients. This post will be part of the full Emergency Department Consultant rota. However we are happy to discuss less than full time options if suitable.

You must be fully registered with the GMC and hold a Licence to Practice and be on the Specialist Register, or within six months of attaining your CCT or equivalent to be eligible for interview.
