Consultant Haematologist (Clinical & Laboratory)

Job description

This post, which is available with immediate effect, has a commitment to St. James’s Hospital as aConsultant in Haematology with a focus on adult haemostasis and thrombosis. The successful candidate willbe assigned to the National Coagulation Centre, St James’s Hospital.


This Consultant Haematologist position is required to maintain the current consultant team that deal withthe expanded workload at the NCC. The proposed appointment will support current service needs, and willinvolve sharing of existing clinical activity in relation to inherited and acquired bleeding and thromboticdisorders, as well as laboratory duties and hospital consultation services. The appointed Consultant wouldbe expected to take a lead role in the design and governance of services for thrombosis in St. James’sHospital. The appointed Consultant will also share the administrative workload relating to theimplementation of the recommendations of the Report of the Inquiry into the infection with HIV andhepatitis C of persons with Haemophilia and related disorders, including the implementation of the NCCLighthouse project.

Eligibility: Registration as a specialist in the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained bythe Medical Council in Ireland in the specialty of haematology (clinical and laboratory).
