Consultant Geriatrician

At AmongDoctors EventsKing’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

Job description

King’s College Hospital is looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual to join our team of Geriatricians in the Department of Clinical Gerontology at Denmark Hill.

This is a dynamic department with a strong track record in delivering innovative pathways of care, high quality multi-professional training and academic research.

King’s is in a privileged position having been a key partner in developing integrated older people’s services across health and social care and the third sector over recent years. As a member of Kings Health Partners, an Academic Health Sciences Centre, it offers unique opportunities to continue to improve services underpinned by cutting edge research.

The post is ideal for an aspiring clinical leader holding a CCT in Geriatric Medicine and General Internal medicine or within 6 months of completing specialist training.

We are looking for an excellent communicator who is committed to service improvement as well as patient care.

This post will share responsibility for one of our Health and Ageing wards (Donne Ward- recently nominated for team of year at Kings). In addition, the post holder will work with General Practitioners, community services and Southwark CCG to support local care homes and NHS Continuing Care assessment. One day a week will be based on our Frailty Assessment Unit.

Opportunities exist in this post for other sub-specialty interests to be accommodated and we would strongly support academic and research interests. The post-holder would be expected to contribute to an unselected General Medical on call Rota. On call commitments may change in the future as we further develop our 7 day service commitment.

Interview date: 12th February 2020
