Consultant Physician with an interest in Orthogeriatrics

We are delighted to be offering the opportunity for two geriatricians with an interest in Orthogeriatrics to join the CQC rated “outstanding” Kingston Hospital.

The posts, both RCP approved, will be working within an established, innovative model of care on the orthopaedic wards, caring for the majority of elderly patients admitted to Kingston with fractures.

The orthopaedic unit consists of two wards (46 beds) for unscheduled (emergency) admissions. Typically, up to 90% of these patients will be elderly and/or have multiple and complex co-morbidities. Our unit is an exemplar of excellent multidisciplinary team working within the Trust and we are proud of the service we provide our patients. The post-holders will be expected to contribute to and be involved in the development of a collaborative, consultant-led service, teaching and training of the junior doctors as well as the wider MDT, 7 day working strategy and performance in line with the local and national standards. We are also invested in exploring exciting opportunities such as outpatient assessment of osteoporotic fracture found incidentally on X-Ray.

While the day to day work of the successful applicants will be located on the orthopaedic wards, the successful applicants will be part of the Care of the Elderly department, sharing office space with the other members of the COE department, attendance at governance meetings, medical grand round and being on the acute general medical rota.
