Applicants are invited for a Locum Consultant Rheumatologist at Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This will be a six month placement, with the potential to extend for another six months, pending substantive recruitment.
The department provides Rheumatology services for Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, with a catchment population of around 290,000.
Rheumatology clinics are delivered at Leighton Hospital in Crewe, Victoria Infirmary in Northwich and a large GP surgery based in the catchment area of the South Cheshire CCG. Plans are in place to expand the community delivery of clinics to include more local GP practices.
The department provides general Rheumatology Services and specialty clinics such as combined foot and ankle, hand and antenatal clinics. A dedicated ultrasound machine is available for the department. There are strong links with the Orthopaedic Department and Musculoskeletal Radiology, with access to a DEXA scanner on site.
The Rheumatology Specialist Nurse Service provides dedicated new patient clinics in line with NICE guidance for new inflammatory arthritis, in addition to biological therapy clinics.
The department also has strong links with Primary Care as evidenced by the community clinics. There is a Planned Investigation Unit at Leighton Hospital offering biological therapy infusions and intravenous therapies for osteoporosis.
The posts are offered on a WTE basis; however, the Trust would welcome discussion with individuals looking for a more flexible working pattern to support a different work life balance.
Applicants must have full registration with the GMC including a License to Practice, and be on the Specialist Register.
