JOB DESCRIPTION

This is a permanent post for a child and adolescent psychiatrist with academic experience. This post will provide research leadership to the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Department of Pediatrics, Geneva University Hospital, Geneva, Switzerland. 

The post will be 50% clinical and 50% research and teaching. This is a very exciting time to be joining as a psychiatrist, as the service plans for a move to a new purpose-built child psychiatry building within the next 5 years, and because research is rapidly expanding within the division.

The Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is a vibrant and expanding busy clinical department with an active teaching and research role. A large outpatient provision for young children and children and adolescents, is accompanied by three in-patient units; specialty services are provided to paediatric patients, children/adolescents with eating disorders and those with suicidal attempts and DSH. Main areas of research at present are: eating disorders, health services research, intergenerational effects of maternal stress and interpersonal violence. 

The newly appointed child psychiatrist will join as research lead; she/he will join the existing 6 child psychiatrists in providing clinical services and help develop new research projects, supervise medical trainees wishing to carry out research projects, and promote research across the Division, in line with the plans set by the head of Division.

REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants must have a specialist title in child and adolescent psychiatry. The ideal candidate will have expertise in CBT, experience in neuropsychiatry and psychopharmacology, and an academic profile, with a PhD, teaching experience and at least 10 publications in peer reviewed journals. Some knowledge of french is a prerequisite. The salary is competitive and will be a function of seniority. The candidate will be appointed at the academic level based on his CV.
