Job description

The Department of Anaesthesia at the Princess Royal University Hospital, a division of King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, is looking for an enthusiastic and committed anaesthetist to join our friendly and progressive team.

The successful candidate will be on the Specialist Register for Anaesthetics with evidence of broad experience in all aspects of general anaesthesia. As such, candidates with other subspecialty areas of expertise are encouraged to apply.

The Princess Royal University Hospital has 525 beds with further beds at Orpington Hospital, serving the local population of the London Borough of Bromley and surrounding areas. The hospitals are based in in leafy suburban town of Orpington, a highly sought after location due to its close proximity to many well-regarded primary, secondary and Grammar schools in addition to restaurants, cafes and bars. It is minutes away from Bromley town centre which has extensive retail and leisure facilities and regularly appears in the list of the annual top 50 places to live in the UK. The Kent Countryside is in close proximity offering peace and quiet and recreational activities. Many staff live in the local area, enhancing the community spirit within the hospitals. For those who live further afield, the area is served by fast rail links to central London and a good local bus service in addition to being 20 minutes’ drive from the M25.

The 10 PA post includes 8.5 PAs for DCC and 1.5 SPAs, for responsibilities that will be agreed at job planning. The job plan includes the out-of-hours on call rota for anaesthetics. The posts are for a general DGH job but we may be able to accommodate a subspecialty interest in some areas. You will be expected to work flexibly throughout the week with on-call at weekends and out of hours.
