Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the appointment of a permanent Consultant Obstetrician with special interest in Maternal Medicine to join our team at the Royal Wolverhampton Hospital Trust, on account of need to increase and maintain the relevant expertise in high risk obstetrics. This new post will complement the existing Obstetrics and Gynaecology team with provision of a broad range of high risk obstetrics and Maternal Medicine.


All high risk obstetrics services are provided at New Cross Hospital, where there is a large level 3 NNU, HDU and ICCU care available to mothers and babies. There is also a co-located midwifery-led birthing unit (MLU). The Obstetric Service provides Fetal Medicine, Maternal Medicine and Advanced antenatal Services with a full range of outpatient clinics, obstetric physicians, and obstetric anaesthetist, diagnostic and screening services. There are currently 3 dedicated obstetricians and 12 consultants in obstetrics/gynaecology, and 4 gynaecological oncologists within the Directorate and junior medical staff including a supportive complement of senior specialty doctors, senior clinical fellows in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Applicants must be on the GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT or equivalent at the time of interview.
