Consultant Community Paediatrician

Job description

We are looking for a dinamic colleague to become a Community Paediatrician. You will be joining a complement of seven Consultants responsible for the provision of a range of Community Paediatric Services to children and young people serviced by ABM UHB.

The Community Paediatric Services cover the Unitary Authorities of Swansea and Neath Port Talbot.

You will be responsible for coordination and leadership of multi-professional assessments for individual children which could include multidisciplinary assessment and investigation of children under the age of 5 years for Autism Spectrum Disorder and children presenting with other neuro-development conditions.

You will also have the opportunity to lead on a Community Paediatric service development across Swansea and NPT as well as an opportunity to develop special interest in line with the needs of the department.

You will have shared management and supervision responsibility for all trainee staff in the department.

The Department of Child Health has close links with the academic department in the University of Swansea, which includes the Clinical Medical School and the Graduate Entry Medical School. Singleton Hospital is adjacent to Swansea University and the Department of Child Health is involved in the teaching of Graduate Entry Medical Students.

All Consultants actively participate in the teaching of medical students in clinics and other appropriate teaching venues.

This is a full time post (10 sessions) and is based across the Swansea and Neath Port Talbot area, although candidates wishing to work part time will be considered.

There are a number of smaller community hospitals primary care resource centres providing important clinical services to our residents outside of the four main acute hospital settings.
