In order support the Trust’s Major Trauma Centre in the Yorkshire and Humber region, we are looking to appoint an additional substantive orthopaedic trauma consultant. This post will further enhance our established team of consultants within the Trauma and Orthopaedic department at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. We are one of the leading healthcare institutions in the world, excelling in patient care, teaching and research.  The Trauma and Orthopaedic Department has both National and International recognition for research as well as maintaining strong teaching links with the University of Leeds. 

Committed applicants with subspecialty interests to complement and enhance the skills and surgical capacity of our current consultant team are encouraged.  In particular we are seeking those with an interest in complex Pelvic and Acetabula orthopaedic trauma surgery.  For the right candidates there are opportunities to develop their own area of expertise and to enhance their chosen field of Trauma interest. 

We seek those who are interested and have a proven track record in under-graduate and post-graduate education, and research as we are dedicated to extending the boundaries of healthcare and allowing you to expand the knowledge in your specialism for the benefit of the patient and the profession.  We would like applicants who are passionate regarding passing on these skills to the next generation of doctors and healthcare professionals. 

This role offers an outstanding opportunity to play a key role in developing and delivering trauma services in the region and improving outcomes for our patients.  The successful applicants will work at the centre of a regional network that covers nearly three million people (adults & children) in our Major Trauma Centre, including dedicated major trauma ward, theatres and critical care facilities.  As a natural hub for Yorkshire and with excellent connections to all parts of the North of England, we have worked hard to bring a logical alignment to patient services within well equipped, modern facilities which will see services dedicated to helping critically ill patients all located together in the Jubilee Wing.  We are the first major multi-site hospital in the UK to have adopted this under-one-roof approach to patient care.  The appointed candidate will join a dedicated, consultant lead, multidisciplinary team delivering focused care to patients with severe and multiple injuries admitted to the major trauma centre.
