Locum Consultant Breast Surgeon

Job description

Applications are invited for the above post based at Pilgrim Hospital for a period of 12 months starting ASAP.

It is essential that the appointee has considerable experience in breast surgery and it will be preferable to have competence in Oncoplastic breast surgical procedures. The unit treats about 200-250 new cases of breast cancer a year which includes 85 screen detected cases. Across 3 sites, ULHT treats about 700 breast cancers a year. We have regular MDT meetings and have full support of the radiology department. The breast unit at Pilgrim currently consists of two dedicated Oncoplastic Breast Surgeons. The unit is supported by experienced middle grade Doctors and junior doctors. This is currently a 10 PA post with no general surgical commitment to meet the increased demand in the breast services across the trust. Breast services are currently provided at 3 sites (Pilgrim Hospital, Grantham Hospital and Lincoln County Hospital). The successful candidate will join a team of 4 dedicated Oncoplastic Breast Surgeons providing service at the 3 sites and will be encouraged to work across sites in future. We will encourage a special interest and support those who wish to develop an interest in research through links with Lincoln University.
