Consultant in Haematopathology

Job description

The successful candidate will play a full part in the provision of the diagnostic service, including support of multi-disciplinary teams across the region and will be expected to contribute fully to the research and development plan for the department. This will offer the opportunity to develop personal research and clinical interests. The successful candidate will work as part of a team of 6 consultants (including this post) and 9 consultant and principal grade clinical scientists. 

The successful applicant should possess FRCPath (or equivalent) and should be included on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview, if currently within a training programme within the UK. In accordance with the consultant appointment regulations, all other categories of doctors must be on the Specialist Register. 

This post is suitable for candidates from either a histopathology or haematology background who have skills and expertise in diagnostic Haematopathology. The post will require active engagement in research and development and prior experience and specialist expertise in a particular area is highly desirable.  A strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching is required. 

Consideration will be given to applicants who wish to work full or part time and those wishing to job share.

‘Precision Medicine in the Genomics Era for Patients with Haematological Malignancies’.
